CLEOPATRA: Rise Of A Queen | Teaser Trailer | Warner Bros

CLEOPATRA: Rise of a Queen traces the early years of Cleopatra VII’s reign, highlighting her cunning, political savvy, and rise to power amidst a volatile, divided Egypt. Gal Gadot portrays the young Cleopatra as a determined woman who fights to secure her rightful place on the throne, amidst betrayals from her own family and threats from the growing Roman Empire.

The movie begins with Cleopatra’s father, Ptolemy XII, dying and leaving Egypt in a precarious position. Cleopatra, barely 18, is thrust into a co-rulership with her younger brother, Ptolemy XIII, who is manipulated by their scheming advisors. Facing constant threats to her life and position, Cleopatra is forced into exile but soon rallies her supporters.

Her return to Alexandria marks one of the movie’s most dramatic scenes. Using her wit and charm, Cleopatra aligns herself with Julius Caesar (played by a powerful and stoic actor), entering Alexandria concealed in a rolled-up carpet. The two strike an alliance—both romantic and political—and Cleopatra quickly reclaims her throne, now with Caesar’s military support.

As Cleopatra solidifies her rule, tensions rise between Rome and Egypt. The movie delves into her complex relationship with Caesar, portraying her not as a passive lover but as an equal partner, with her own ambitions. Their union leads to the birth of their son, Caesarion, whom Cleopatra envisions as the future ruler of both Egypt and Rome.

However, the film ends on a somber note as Caesar is assassinated in Rome, leaving Cleopatra vulnerable. The final scene hints at the growing influence of Mark Antony, setting the stage for the next chapter in Cleopatra’s saga—her struggle to maintain power against the rising force of Octavian, Caesar’s heir.
